Coach Melissa started playing volleyball at age 11 and hasn’t stopped playing since. She grew up in Missouri where she competed in volleyball, basketball, and track for junior high, four years varsity in high school and two years in college for all 3 sports. She still plays volleyball any time she has a chance.
Coach Melissa started coaching club volleyball in 2007 where she coached 14s-18s for 5 years. She tried taking a break from coaching to finish her Bachelor’s in Nursing. During nursing school her daughter turned 7 so Melissa coached Goodyear recreation until her daughter turned 11 then switched back to club volleyball in 2016. This past season she coached at Odyssey Junior High. Coach Melissa believes in training the whole athlete rather than just skills and knowledge related to volleyball. Her focus is on developing each player to learn how to be a leader on and off the court. She believes in keeping drills fun, fast-paced, game-like and competitive in a way you don’t realize just how hard you are working. Coach Melissa is IMPACT and SafeSport certified and as a registered nurse is trained in basic and advanced care life support. |
