Coach Lance began coaching volleyball in 2013 as a volunteer for the City of Goodyear, both recreational and competitive youth leagues. In the ensuing years he has coached 16 separate team seasons, with ages ranging from 7-16 years old, leading them to 7 championship seasons. In 2015 he was awarded the President’s Silver Volunteer Award by the City of Goodyear. After this he began looking for his next challenge by coaching club volleyball with Club Nexus.
In 2016 Coach Lance coached the 14 regional 1 team improving the team’s standings from 99th to 36th in the Arizona region and in 2017 he coached the 14 regional team with an improvement from 111th to 68th place in the region. That same year Lance started coaching middle school ball at Avondale Elementary School District’s South JV team for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, with the later season bringing home the school’s first JV division championship. Currently Coach Lance is on staff with Odyssey High school, serving as the schools JV coach. While Lance enjoys the competition of the game and the energy the girls bring, most of all he enjoys the satisfaction from helping the girls become better at life. Inspired by coaches in his youth, his philosophy to coaching is that “A good coach will make his players see what they can be.” He believes that sports teach us how to bring the best out in ourselves, get along with others, and gives us the confidence that we never had before. Coach Lance is CAP 1 Certified, NFHS Certified, IMPACT Certified, and Safesport Certified. |
